ANR-Lab Seminar "Endogenous Social Effects: Networks, Game Theory, and Optimization"

Event ended

On January 26 at 3:00 PM, the ANR-Lab seminar will feature Ilya Petrov, a research fellow at the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research. His presentation will review approaches to modeling endogenous social effects using game theory, network analysis, and optimization tools.

A comparison of various approaches to the analysis, identification, and modeling of peer effects is provided. Econometric and game-theoretic approaches to describing peer effects will be considered, including examples of identifying peer effects using real-world data and the influence of linear externalities from network neighbors on an agent's effort level in game-theoretic models. Finally, the term "network interventions" is discussed as procedures for using social ties to alter the performance of network participants, along with examples from the literature. For the case of a model with spillover effects, the main strategies of network interventions are discussed.
