Researchers from the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research presented their studies at NET-2026

On May 13–14, 2026, the XVI International Conference on Network Analysis (NET-2026) was held in a hybrid format in Nizhny Novgorod. NET is an annual specialized conference dedicated to current research in network analysis, graph algorithms, discrete optimization, and applications of complex networks. The conference is organized by the Laboratory of Algorithms and Technologies for Networks Analysis at the National Research University Higher School of Economics and the Laboratory of Advanced Combinatorics and Network Applications at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

The International Laboratory for Applied Network Research traditionally participates in the NET conference, which is one of the key specialized venues for network researchers working across a broad range of topics, from mathematical modeling and algorithms to social network analysis and computational social science. 

This year, researchers from the laboratory presented two studies:

• Natalia Matveeva presented her paper, Co-authorship Networks for Studying Social Capital under Academic Mobility, which explores the use of co-authorship networks to analyze the transformation of scholars’ social capital after changing academic institutions. The study examines how professional ties and the structure of scientific collaborations evolve under conditions of academic mobility. According to the researcher, NET-2026 stood out for its “friendly atmosphere and interesting presentations.”
• Irina Pavlova, together with Timur Andreev, presented the study Science Mapping of the Computational Social Science Domain: Bibliometric Network Approach, focused on mapping the field of computational social science using bibliometric and network-based methods. 

Selected conference papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of Operations Research Forum by Springer Nature (Scopus Q2), providing participants with a strong opportunity to publish research results presented at the conference. 

In addition, the proceedings of last year’s NET-2025 conference have already been prepared and will become available in August 2026 in a Springer volume: Proceedings of NET-2025.
