Researchers from ANR-Lab and "Vostokgosplan" presented an analytical digest on robotics and AI at the Eastern Economic Forum.

In September, as part of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF 2026) business program, a large-scale analytical digest, "Robotics and Artificial Intelligence: International Practices and Opportunities for Russia, the Far East, and the Arctic," was presented. The study was prepared by a joint team of experts from the Federal Autonomous Institution "Vostokgosplan" and the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research (ANR-Lab).

Alexander Zabolotsky, head of the ANR-Lab's research group; Irina Pavlova, deputy head of the laboratory; Kirill Shkolnik, research assistant; and Anna Ocheret, a HSE student, contributed to the digest. The analytical report systematizes government approaches to the development of AI and robotics in leading countries (China, the United States, South Korea, Japan, Germany, and the UAE) and assesses the potential for their application in Russia's macroregions. The study places particular emphasis on the concept of "physical AI"—the integration of large language models with autonomous robotic systems. The authors examine in detail how automation technologies can address the structural constraints of the Russian Far East and Arctic, such as labor shortages and low population density.

The full text of the digest is available on the "Vostokgosplan" website at this link.
