Applied Network Analysis: From Idea to Project Implementation: 16th ANR-Lab Summer School 2025

The 16th Summer School of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research (ANR-Lab), which will be held on July 7-11 in Moscow, will reveal the possibilities of using applied network analysis, from the idea to the implementation of a project in a scientific or applied field. Intensive immersion in working with network data will be of interest to employees of universities and companies, as well as researchers from various fields who do not have extensive experience in the field of social network analysis.

The summer school will present several cases of implementing the SNA methodology in the following areas:
  • Bibliometric network analysis
  • Organizational network research
  • Social media research
  • Labor market research.

The summer school includes both lectures and practical seminars that cover the specifics of collecting and analyzing network data. At the end of the training, participants defend a Research Proposal describing a research idea that can be implemented using the network analysis methodology. Participants will be able to continue their immersion in research at the subsequent advanced training course, which is planned by ANR-Lab for autumn 2025.

The main goal of the summer school: to introduce participants to the methodology of network analysis (social network analysis, SNA), including the basics of collecting, processing, analyzing and visualizing network data, and to form an idea of research and applied projects that can be implemented with its help to solve various problems.

The main objectives of the summer school:
  1. To introduce participants to the methodology of network analysis.
  2. To teach participants the basics of collecting, processing, analyzing and visualizing network data.
  3. To present projects implemented using network analysis in several areas of knowledge to solve various problems - studying groups and teams, scientific fields and collaborations, social media and the labor market.
  4. To teach participants to form detailed descriptions of plans for research or applied projects (Research Proposals), which can be implemented using the methodology of network analysis.
We invite employees and students of universities, company employees, researchers in the field of working with data, applicants and students of master's programs of the National Research University Higher School of Economics to participate.
