Workshop on Introduction to Network Analysis

ANR-Lab together with the Big Data Consortium are launching a series of workshops on network analysis. The first one will take place on June 10 at 10:00 (Moscow time) and will be devoted to introduction to network analysis.

ANR-Lab team will discuss the fascinating field of social network analysis. Together with the presenters, the participants of the meeting will:
  • learn about the history of the development of this field and discover why social researchers and representatives of the physical sciences did not initially collaborate;
  • understand the fundamental terms and concepts of network analysis, including network density, the reciprocity of relations, and how to calculate the centrality of nodes;
  • navigate the available programs for network analysis and explore their primary capabilities;
  • examine examples of network graphs from various studies that are particularly relevant to network analysis, and receive recommendations for effective network visualization;
  • engage in an interactive exploration of your own social networks;
  • discuss how to apply network analysis in your scientific fields and applied research.

Workshop duration: two sessions of 1.5 hours each, with a 15-minute break.
