ANR-Lab Section at the V International Scientific Conference "Interaction. Integration. Inclusion: from reflection to action"

On August 5-7, 2025, the V International Scientific Conference "Interaction. Integration. Inclusion: from reflection to action" will be held online. As part of the conference, ANR-Lab will organize a section "From nodes to links: network analysis of integration in science and education" (Supervisors: Daria Maltseva (Ph.D. in sociology, head of the ML PSA), Natalia Matveeva (Ph.D. in Economics, researcher at the ML PSA), Anton Sizov (trainee researcher at the ML PSA).

Network analysis methods that allow visualizing and analyzing complex systems of interactions can be effectively used to study various aspects of integration in science and education. The section will feature reports revealing how structural and dynamic patterns of connections affect integration processes in the academic and educational environment. The section will combine quantitative and qualitative approaches - from the analysis of big data on co-authorship to ethnographic studies of academic communities. The section's topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Global and national scientific collaborations and asymmetries in academic cooperation: the formation of networks of interactions between organizations and scientists in different countries and their impact on knowledge production, taking into account institutional barriers.Formal and informal networks of interactions in science: co-authorship, mentoring, informal communication and their relationship with official hierarchies and bibliometric indicators.
  • Citation networks in academic research: studying patterns and mechanisms of inequality reproduction, social and demographic asymmetries, the "Matthew Effect" and journal hierarchies (impact factor, quartile) in the formation of citation flows.
  • Production of scientific knowledge in research teams: the impact of interactions in research groups, social structures, mechanisms and institutional contexts on the practices of formation and integration of research topics and methodologies.
  • Social capital and social connections in educational communities: the relationship between social interactions and academic performance, psychological well-being and social integration.
  • Methods and approaches to analyzing inequality in scientific and educational communities: theoretical frameworks and quantitative models assessing inequality at the individual, institutional and national levels.
  • The results of the presented works will be useful for understanding how to strengthen integration in science and education, overcoming existing barriers and using the potential of network structures.

Also, laboratory analyst Sergey Davydov is the head of the section "Inclusion. "Digital". Artificial Intelligence".
