Open House Day of the MASNA and a master class on working with network data in Pajek
On February 25, at 19:00, the Open House Day of the Master's programme "Applied Statistics with Network Analysis" will be held. At the Open House Day there wiil be a master class "Big Data in Network Analysis: Features of Work in Pajek".
Traditionally, we hold master classes on Open house days. This time we will talk about the Pajek program, which is capable of analyzing about 10 billion nodes.
Pajek has been developed by professors of the University of Ljubljana Vladimir Batagelj and Andrej Mrvar since 1996. Unlike other similar programs, Pajek is fully available for non-commercial use (see the Pajek website). In 2013, Vladimir Batagelj and Andrej Mrvar received an award from the International Network Researchers Community (INSNA) for the Pajek program development.
At the master class, the Pajek program will be considered for the creation, transformation and visualization of networks, the calculation of basic metrics for individual nodes and networks in general, as well as a comprehensive analysis of network data (including multiplication of dual-mode networks and block modeling procedures). Seminar participants will be able to apply the knowledge gained to analyze the data collected during their research. The workshop will be conducted by Daria Maltseva, Ph.D. in Sociology, senior researcher at ANR Lab, deputy head of the laboratory.
