ANR-Lab seminar «The structure of the professional online community: the case of Russian sociologists»

The seminar will be devoted to discussing a draft article on the structure of the professional online community of sociologists "Manufaktura Sotspokh" on Facebook. In this study, the communication structure between the users is investigated based on the analysis of networks of comments and likes during the four periods with peaks activity.

Social network analysis and the methodology of blockmodeling demonstrate the structural patterns of interactions of the Russian sociologists' Facebook online community. The results show the core-periphery type of the structure of social interactions in both studied networks. However, there are some differences between likes and comments interactions in the inter-group form, its complexity, stability, and changing through the activity peaks. The analysis of the incomers and outgoers shows the instability in both networks.
