ANR-Lab Seminar “Celebrity Cross-Platform Strategies: Social Media Analysis”

Event ended

On Monday, November 15, at 18:00, a scientific seminar of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research will be held, where Olga Logunova, Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology of the Higher School of Economics, will present the report “Celebrity Cross-Platform Strategies: Social Media Analysis,” based on a study conducted jointly with Pavel Lebedev, SBER Executive Director of the AI-marketing Center.

The report is devoted to the study of celebrity in the context of a cross-platform adventure. Today, even schoolchildren make accounts on all sites at once - why do “celebrities” need it? The main research question is formulated as follows: how digital platforms construct/shape the communication practices of celebrities and their practices of audience engagement.

The analysis database contains about 22,000 publications and comments of 15 key celebrities on three platforms in six months - Instagram, TikTok, and Vkontakte. In addition, quantitative and qualitative content analysis was carried out.

The results demonstrated the existence of several strategies for the work of celebrities on digital platforms and their communication patterns. The linguistic patterns of interaction with the audience and the mechanisms of its involvement were also recorded.

The language of the seminar is Russian. The seminar will be held online on the Zoom platform. Registered participants will receive an invitation letter to the video conference.

Registration for the seminar is available here.
We will be glad to see everyone!
