ANR-Lab Seminar “Russian Science development based on bibliometric analysis of Web of Science data: methodological discussion”

Event ended

On Monday, October 3, at 17:00, a scientific seminar of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research will be held, where the head of the laboratory, Darya Maltseva, will present the new ANR-Lab research.

Nowadays, the transformation of science and the globalization of scientific knowledge are taking place, which makes it necessary for national scientific institutions to be prepared to compete at the global level. The activities of scientists can no longer be reduced exclusively to individual creativity, so it is especially important to study the different types of relationships between scientists and the social stratification within the scientific community. The study of the interactions between scientists at the local level of individual states can show their efficiency and form ideas of the structural changes necessary to increase the competitiveness of research teams in the international arena.
A new project of the laboratory is devoted to studying the development of various scientific disciplines in Russian science. Based on the bibliographic data obtained from the Web of Science citation database, collected for the period 1991 - 2021, scientific citation and collaboration networks will be constructed and analyzed, which will make it possible to draw conclusions about the main trends in the development of science in Russia.

The seminar will include a methodological discussion on research design, with the participation of research supervisors and laboratory members, as well as students from the Master’s programme "Applied Statistics with Network Analysis".

If you would like to participate in the seminar, please write to the research assistant of the laboratory Nadezhda Buzina (npbuzina@hse.ru).
