ANR-Lab Open Seminar "Centrality in Complex Networks: Challenges and Open Problems"

The concept of centrality is one of the essential tools for analyzing complex systems. Over the years, a large number of centrality indices have been proposed to account for different aspects of a network. However, many of these indices lack rigorous validation, raising questions about their applicability and reliability. Additionally, there is no consensus on the definition or conceptual foundations of centrality itself. In this talk, we will explore the key problems and limitations of centrality, examine the similarities among existing centrality measures, and highlight the open challenges that remain for future research.
