Online intensive course "Introduction to Exploratory Data Analysis"

From June 1–3, the online master's program "Data Analytics and Social Statistics" held a three-day intensive course on exploratory data analysis.

The intensive was held by

Irina Pavlova

Международная лаборатория прикладного сетевого анализа: Заместитель заведующего лабораторией

Mikhail Meshkov

Международная лаборатория прикладного сетевого анализа: Стажер-исследователь

Быстрова Анастасия Владимировна

The intensive course was led by Mikhail Meshkov, Anastasia Bystrova, and Irina Pavlova, team members of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research.

This intensive course introduces the fundamentals of data analysis and applied statistics to beginning researchers and analysts. Participants learned the theoretical foundations of statistics, measurement scales, data formats, and the key analysis tools—R and Python.

Special attention was paid to critical reading of data and visualizations: how to interpret graphs, recognize statistical biases, and avoid common pitfalls in analysis. The practical portion includes mastering the basic syntax of R and Python, working with dataframes, importing data, conducting exploratory analysis, and constructing initial visualizations to find insights.
