Nation-States and Networks in International Relations: Effectiveness Evaluation and Change Prediction

We use modern advanced methods of temporal network analysis and relational sociology to model the phenomena of efficiency of nation-states and social change without reducing the complexity of these phenomena. This is because temporal network analysis methods specifically allow to model complexity – something that older, simpler methods are unable to allow. We look at how the effectiveness of nation-states and social changes over time and what are the root causes of higher effectiveness.

We propose a large-scale project to collect big data on the development of states to predict the future of their social and economic systems. Big data will be collected on a variety of indicators (social, economic, cultural, demographic) and cover several decades. This will enable us to test the application of advanced relational sociology methods to predict the development of social systems at the level of states, regions and the world. In addition, we will be able to test the significance of modern futurological theories, determine the trajectories of development of states and regions of the world, and explain the dynamics of their development.
