Environmental Affairs and Global Governance

Global governance and sustainability development are currently some of the most popular buzzwords in scientific, political and social discourse. Dynamization of changes in the economy, society and the environment set the context for the socio-ecological control of social development. Global environmental affairs are complex, transboundary, multi-level and multi-sector issues, that need to be dealt with an integrated approach across all areas of society. By applying theories of social changes, we will discuss what this may discovered in practice for the policy-making and implementation of environmental policy, changes and movements at different levels.  We use methods of quantitative analysis that are useful for investigating what of social and policy change are matter for environmental affairs. We identify fundamental phenomena, how to formulate theoretical models, and how to quantitatively test models by comparison to observations.

There are many important questions still left to answer. Nation-states in today's world are subject to global governance, focused on development and decision making for the purpose of overcoming global problems. How can effective interaction between states be built in order to solve global problems? On what does such interaction depend? Why is such interaction (not) effective? These and other related questions are the focus of research of the proposed project.
