Analysis of the networks of Soviet and Russian sociologists

This project is aimed at studying interactions among Soviet and Russian sociologists based on the analysis of biographical interviews collected by Russian sociologist Boris Doktorov. The methodological basis of the study is the strategy of mixing quantitative and qualitative methods. Currently, Daria Maltseva and Stanislav Moiseev are working on the project.

After the pilot phase of the project in 2017-2018, a decision was made about the need to automate the process of network data extracting from the narrative texts. In 2020, a graduate of the master's programme “Applied statistics with network analysis”, Karina Simonova, developed a special application for extracting data from texts, which allowed moving to the next stage of the research project.
