Round table “Theory and practice of network analysis in the Russian-language research space: experience, prospects and challenges”

Event ended

On May 17 from 14:00 to 16:30, as part of the Readings on instrumental methods in economic and social research in memory of Evgeniy Grigorievich Yasin, the International Laboratory of Applied Network Analysis is holding a round table “Theory and practice of network analysis in the Russian-language research space: experience, prospects and challenges.” This is one of the events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the founding of ANR-Lab.

During the event, it is proposed to discuss the current state of the Social Network Analysis (SNA) direction and the prospects for its development in the Russian research space.

The event will consist of two parts. The first part of the event will feature several presentations by the leaders of the Laboratory:
  • Welcoming speech from the scientific advisors of the laboratory – emeritus professors of the University of Ljubljana Anuska Ferligoj and Vladimir Batagelj “How to build your own scientific school in the field of network analysis”
  • Speech “10 years of work of the Applied Network Analysis Laboratory at the National Research University Higher School of Economics”
  • Speech by the head of the laboratory, Daria Maltseva, “What do the results of bibliometric analysis say about the field of network analysis”
In the second part, round table participants will discuss current issues in the development of network analysis. Based on their experience, the invited round table participants will tell you in which disciplinary areas and to study which topics the SNA methodology is used, what current theoretical and methodological issues are now facing researchers, what challenges network analysts face, and how they see the opportunities and prospects for using network analysis methodology in the Russian-language research space. The round table will continue with discussion, and at the end its participants will sum up the results and formulate the current agenda in the field of SNA.

Representatives of research groups using network analysis in fundamental and applied research in the Russian-speaking research space, as well as industry representatives using network analysis methodology to solve practical research problems, are invited to speak at the round table. If you would like to take part in the round table, please write to event organizer Daria Maltseva (dmaltseva@hse.ru).

The event will take place in a hybrid format (offline at the address: AUK "Pokrovsky Boulevard", Pokrovsky Blvd., 11, room. M409).
