One-day intensive on network analysis “One-day network-diving”

On May 18, ANR-Lab will hold a one-day intensive course on network analysis “One-day network-diving”. The course is aimed at young researchers who want to get acquainted with the methodology of social network analysis. This is one of the events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of ANR-Lab. In a programme:

1. SNA as a 'icing-on-the-cake' methodology in Data analytics.
   Connections between employees in organizations, scientists in scientific groups, keywords in texts, or characters in literary works are studied within the framework of Network Science. Modern digital technologies allow us to reach new levels of analysis of social systems, making it possible to study complex networks in dynamics using advanced analysis algorithms. Senior researchers and heads of ANR-Lab Ivan Klimov, Daria Maltseva and Irina Pavlova will talk about the features of social network analysis and network science as one of the areas of computational social sciences.
2. All we need is nets. Nets are all we need
   Participants in the workshop, which will be conducted by ANR-Lab junior researcher, graduate student Anna Semenova, will understand the basic terms and concepts of network analysis, learn what network density and node centrality are, and also become familiar with other basic metrics for describing a social network.
3. Simple but fantastic: network visualizations in Gephi
   In a practical lesson from ANR-Lab junior researcher, graduate student Tamara Shcheglova, participants will get an idea of the available programs for network analysis and learn about their main capabilities. Meeting participants will be able to work with their hands and visualize the network in an easy-to-use network analysis program, Gephi. Don't forget to bring your computer!

Young researchers, students and applicants who want to learn how to apply network analysis methodology in practice are invited to participate.

The intensive will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in a hybrid format (offline at the address: AUK "Pokrovsky Boulevard", Pokrovsky Blvd., 11, room. M409). Russian language.

After the end of the event, a meeting of laboratory employees and guests is planned, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of ANR-Lab.
