Networks in sociology
The study of social structure and social interactions has always been in the focus of theoretical and empirical analysis of social sciences and sociology in particular. Since its inception, the interdisciplinary field of social network analysis (SNA) has been closely connected to sociological discipline: on the one hand, SNA develops tools for the empirical analysis of various social phenomena, and on the other hand, it relies on various theoretical foundations developed within the framework of sociology.
Developing this tradition, our group conducts a number of projects to study the theoretical and methodological foundations of the network approach in sociology, including the study of methodological strategies for quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods in network analysis. These methodological strategies are used for the empirical analysis of many social objects and phenomena, including the structures of interactions in various social and professional offline and online groups and communities.
