ANR-lab on HSE Faculty of Social Sciences birthday, April 22

On April 22, the birthday of the Faculty of Social Sciences took place, in which the ANR-lab took part.

Laboratory staff spoke about ANR-Lab projects and internship opportunities in the laboratory, about the features of studying at the master's programme 'Applied Statistics with Network Analysis' and organized a quiz for guests on the basics of network analysis and raffled off prizes: a book by the head of the laboratory Daria Maltseva "Network Approach in Sociology" and merch with the logo of the laboratory.

Analyst of the laboratory Anna Semenova held a master class on identifying communities in the network using the example of the relationship structure of the characters in the Harry Potter books using the R programming language.

Research assistant Lika Kapustina held a workshop on 'How to analyze a network of your friends with social network analysis' and talked about the connection of social networks with reality, explained how the degree indicator differs from centrality, and showed how you can build a network of friends on VKontakte using Python and the VK API.

As part of the celebration of the FSS's birthday, representatives of laboratories, faculty curricula and extracurricular student organizations held lectures on educational, scientific and career issues; Dean of the Faculty Andrei Melville delivered a speech; and after the official part, all participants communicated freely.
