2016

Sixth International Summer School «Theory and Methods of Longitudinal Social Network Analysis» (TMSA-2016(II))

The purpose of the school was to provide students, who already have a solid understanding of social network analysis, with some specifics of longitudinal network analysis, including selection and influence models, two-mode networks, model comparison of SAOMs and ERGMs, and multi-group and meta-analysis. Topics covered are designed to provide deeper understanding of longutidinal network development.
The working language of the school is English.

Fifth International Summer School «Theory and Methods of Exponential Random Graph Modeling» (TMSA-2016(I))

The purpose of the school was to provide students, who already had a solid understanding of social network analysis, with some specifics of ERGM, a family of statistical methods for analyzing networks. Topics covered are designed to provide deeper understanding of network formation and structure by comparing all possible alternative networks.
The working language of the school is English.

Dates and Location: July 4-8, 2016, Moscow, Russia.

2015

Fourth International Summer School «THEORY AND METHODS OF NETWORK ANALYSIS» (TMSA-2015) Moscow

Moscow, 10-14, August, 2015

The purpose of the school was to provide students, who already had a solid understanding of social network analysis, with some specifics of SNA. Topics covered were designed to provide deeper understanding of network data structure and visualization, positional centrality and positional role analysis, and longitudinal networks and animation in Visone.

For more information please follow the link.

Third International Summer School «THEORY AND METHODS OF NETWORK ANALYSIS» (TMSA-2015)
Moscow, June, 29 - July, 3, 2015

The purpose of the school was to provide students with a solid understanding of social network analysis (SNA) modeling. That was  a second course in SNA; students were expected to have foundational knowledge of networks. Topics covered were designed to provide deeper understanding of statistical thinking for networks, and focus on P1, P2, P*/Visualization; longitudinal and co-evolutionary models; blockmodels; diffusion models; and special topics – personal network studies, affiliation networks, and bibliometrics/scientometrics. For more information please follow the link.

The working language of the school is English.

2014
International Summer School on Social Network Analysis

Saint-Petersburg, August, 8-13, 2014

Advanced students and young researchers participated in the International Social Network Analysis Summer School organized by Network Science Lab and Sociology of Education and Science Lab of Higher School of Economics, Russia.

Social network analysis focuses on relationships between social entities. It is used widely in the social and behavioral sciences, as well as in political science, economics, organizational science, and industrial engineering. The social network perspective has been developed over the last sixty years by researchers in psychology, sociology, and anthropology. The social network paradigm is gaining recognition and standing in the general social and behavioral science communities as the theoretical basis for examining social structures. This basis has been clearly defined by many theorists, and the paradigm convincingly applied to important substantive problems. However, the paradigm requires a new and different set of concepts and analytic tools, beyond those provided by standard quantitative (particularly, statistical) methods.

First International Summer School «THEORY AND METHODS OF NETWORK ANALYSIS» (TMSA-2014)

Moscow, July  7-11, 2014

First International Summer School "Theory and methods of network analisys" was organized by International Laboratory for Applied Network Analysis together with Faculty of Management.

The purpose of the school was to introduce students to the foundations of theory and methods of social network analysis (SNA), and to demonstrate how networks are used to explain and predict phenomena in a wide range of other applied disciplines. The school contains three independent, but interconnected components:

1. Theoretical: network theory and theory of networks, and their role in nomological network of focal constructs of interest;

2. Methodological: methods of analysis and software programs used to analyze network data;

3. Applied: the theory and instruments learned in class are then used in individual and group work to design a research project in student’s own area of interest.

 Summer school schedule.
