New publications by ANR-lab employees

Alexander Pakhomov and students participating in the FSS Winter School 2023 published an article "Subjective meanings and strategies of self-organization of the "new wave" of Russian emigration on the sites of Telegram channels" in the latest issue of the expert-analytical publication "SocioDigger" from WCIOM.

Alexander and the colleagues presented an expanded analytical commentary on valuable features of telegram channels for emigrants, and how they help emigrants build social connections abroad. The authors conducted 13 semi-structured interviews with the creators of various channels and presented interesting results, which can be found via the link.

Daniil Khomchenko, co-authored with Elizaveta Shmidova, Roman Shcherbak, published an article "Between the Market and history: Practices of illegal archaeology, a sociological view of the digger's everyday life."

The work is devoted to the informal economy sector and, in particular, to the activities of amateur diggers - archaeologists who illegally search for valuable objects. The authors conducted 13 semi-structured interviews, and identified the motivations of diggers, their subjective legitimization of this occupation, as well as the structure of the community of diggers and the process of its formation, based on actor-network theory. The article will be available in the 19th issue of the journal "Petersburg Sociology Today" via the link.
