Internship at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana
From March 1 to May 27, Senior Researcher of the International Laboratory of Applied Network Analysis Daria Maltseva trains at the Center for Methodology and Informatics of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Anuška Ferligoj and Prof. Dr. Vladimir Batagelj.
Center for methodology and informatics (CMI), established in 1992, integrates research fields of social science methodology an social informatics. The main research topics of CMI are methods for network analysis, measuring social networks, measuring information society phenomena, mathematical models in social sciences, online community research and research of children on the internet. CMI is internationally renowned for its scientific achievements in the field of developing methods and tools for network analysis.
On March 15, Daria made a speech at a regular seminar of Vlado Batagelj at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematicsof the University of Ljubljana on the topic "Network Research in Russia: Overview of the ANR-Lab and Some Studies of the Scientific Field", where she talked about the ANR-Lab`s activities and her own research projects.
During the internship, Daria will study the methodology of studying citation networks, mixed-method research methodology, as well as attend courses on New Developments in Statistics and Network Analysis with Pajek.
The internship is carried out on the basis of a partnership agreement reached between the Laboratory of Applied Network Analysis and the Faculty of Social Sciences. In addition, Prof. Dr. Anuška Ferligoj and Prof. Dr. Vladimir Batagelj are going to be invited lecturers at the ANR-Lab`s Summer School, as well as at the program "Applied Statistics and Network Analysis", which is launched by ANR-Lab in September.
