Research assistant at ANR-Lab Maria Vorobeva published an article in the journal of the first quartile

Congratulations to Maria Vorobeva, ANR-Lab Research Assistant, and MASNA Student, for publishing an article in the first quartile journal – Cultural Trends.

Research assistant at ANR-Lab Maria Vorobeva published an article in the journal of the first quartile

In November, the Cultural Trends Journal published an article by Maria Vorobeva, “What is an independent art space? Using a text-mining approach to describe independent art spaces”. This article's publication was the result of work on a project supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation during Maria's undergraduate studies.

In her article, Maria, using text mining algorithms for text descriptions on alternativeartguide.com, answers what independent art spaces are. The study found that independent art spaces are non-profit, artist-driven spaces that seek to integrate local and international culture and engage artists in collaborations. In addition, separate art spaces offer community spaces and jobs for artists, promoting creativity and experimental art.

The research results were presented on November 22 at the ANR-Lab seminar, the recording of which is available here. Maria also shared her experience of publishing in an international peer-reviewed journal. She talked about the entire path from research idea to publication: the process of searching for a topic and data sources, obtaining a grant, a trip to an international workshop in Florence, applying for conferences, writing an article, and proofreading. Selection of a journal and submission of an article for review. Not everything worked out the first time, but Maria did not despair, listened to the reviewers' recommendations, and ultimately published an article in one of the leading journals in her field.

We congratulate Maria on the successful publication and wish her luck in her scientific work!
